Ride Description

  • Great For Families and Groups

  • Easy and Safe Paved Path

  • Great Views and Restrooms Along The Way

This is the most popular place to ride bicycles in Big Bear Lake and is great for larger groups of 5 or more and those with small children. The ride starts from Goldsmiths Sport’s parking lot and crosses Big Bear Blvd. at Garstin Drive. By crossing at Garstin Drive (or alternatively at Summit Blvd.) you can use the crosswalk or stoplight to get across the highway safely. Continue up Garstin until you pass the Big Bear Hospital. Turn right on Fox Farm, and then left on Sandalwood Drive (just after Interiors furniture store) and continue towards the lake. Near the parking lot of Von’s (in the Interlaken Shopping Center) you will see the paved bike path beginning on the left side of the road. Get onto the path and it’s all smooth sailing from there. You’ll cross Stanfield Cutoff and continue to the East Boat Launch where the pedal path continues along the lake. Keep riding as far as you’d like, all the way to Serrano Campground. Take a look at the Big Bear Solar Observatory, and then head on back the way you came to Goldsmiths Sports. If you keep moving you can do this in an hour, but if you’d like to enjoy some views along the way, read the informative signs, or snap some good photos, give yourself 2 hours and you’ll have plenty of time. Should you have more time on your way back, consider riding through the Eagle Point neighborhood towards Meadow Park which will extend your ride and give you more great views of the lake from the opposite shore.
